Jones and the Nashville Children's Theatre
Bringing Learning to Life Through Theatre

Since 2023, Jones Elementary has partnered with Nashville Children's Theatre (NCT) to offer drama experiences that empower students through creativity, literacy and emotional expression.
This partnership supports the school-wide focus on arts, with a three-tiered initiative integrating movement, storytelling and performances into everyday learning.
Experiences that Inspire
All Jones students take a field trip to the Children's Theatre and attend at least one performance each school year.
- Younger grades enjoy Snuggery productions, interactive shows focused on early literacy and connection.
- Older students attend productions on the mainstage, which feature rich literacy connections and tie back to classroom learning.
Through these performances and instruction, students have explored larger themes, such as social justice, and responded through reflective writing.
Drama School Scholarships
At Jones, select students receive full scholarships to attend NCT's Drama School, where they have the opportunity to train with professional actors and perform on the NCT stage. These scholarships honor students who demonstrate a passion and talent in the arts.
Growing Through Drama
At Jones, self-expression is more than encouraged - it is celebrated. And with the weekly drama instruction given by NCT Teaching Artists, it has been a positive push for students by supporting emotional expression, imagination and written reflection. This has also helped to further strengthen the school culture of kindness, respect and student voice.

The Lion King - A Celebration of Talent and Love
The schoolwide Disney production of "The Lion King" united the school community and showcased the range of talent in our students and staff. At every grade level - even our first graders took on leading roles - our students showed that students at Jones can shine centerstage.
